Tallinn is the capital of Estonia. The city’s mission is to make Tallinn the best place to live for its residents, a desirable destination for visitors, and a strong starting point for those embarking on new journeys.

The city serves as Estonia’s main governmental, financial, industrial, and cultural centre. Located on a bay in northern Estonia, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea, Tallinn is part of Harju County.

The city boasts a highly diversified economy, with particular strengths in information technology, tourism, and logistics. More than half of Estonia’s GDP is generated here.

In addition to its historic role as a seaport and capital, the city has emerged as a hub for the development of the information technology sector.

Its Old Town is one of the best-preserved medieval centres in Europe and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It remains Estonia’s most renowned attraction for international visitors.

Tallinn is also the first European capital to offer fare-free public transport—buses, trams, and trolleybuses—within its city limits. This service is available to residents registered with the municipality.
