Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole

Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole is Public institution for inter-communal cooperation located on the Mediterranean coast in the south of France.
It comprises over 500,000 inhabitants in 31 communes around its central city, Montpellier, which alone has a population of over 300,000, making it the seventh largest city in France.

Today, with its 29,000 companies, 60,000 students and clusters of excellence in the fields of health, water, agronomy and cutting-edge technologies, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole is consolidating its assets by developing cooperation agreements with China, Brazil and the United States, and remains, with its privileged climate, one of France’s favorite destinations.

To promote more sustainable public lighting, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole has embarked on the creation of its Lighting Masterplan, a voluntary document providing a global and strategic vision of all artificial night-time lighting in the region. The plan sets out Montpellier’s strategy for artificial lighting, focusing on 5 key issues: aesthetics, safety, environment, economy and society.
